The webbing retractor is an automatic fall arrester with a webbing reserve on a drum protected by a polyamide/fibreglass casing. The webbing is held taut by a spring, and can be lengthened and shortened as the person moves. In the event of a fall, it locks automatically. Energy is absorbed by the device itself.
